Introducing Jaliesa Douglas, RN, Lactation Consultant

Sep 7, 2026

Meet Jaliesa Douglas

Jaliesa Douglas is a Registered Nurse, Child and Family Health Nurse and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), with 12 years of nursing experience and 6 years working specifically in child and family health.

Jaliesa is passionate about supporting families through the early years with a holistic, evidence-informed approach that considers the whole child, the whole family and the many factors that can influence feeding, sleep, growth and development.

As a Child and Family Health Nurse, Jaliesa works with babies, young children and their families from birth through to five years of age. Her role includes supporting families with breastfeeding and infant feeding, sleep, growth and development, immunisations, and the many questions and challenges that naturally come with raising young children.

With her additional qualification as an IBCLC, Jaliesa brings a depth of knowledge and experience to supporting breastfeeding and infant feeding. She understands that feeding does not always look the way families expect it to, and that having the right information, practical support and someone to help make sense of what is happening can make such a difference.

Jaliesa also has a particular interest in infant and child sleep. She approaches sleep through a holistic and biological lens, looking beyond simply “getting a baby to sleep” and instead considering the individual child, their development, temperament, biological needs, feeding, environment and the wider family context. Her approach is gentle, realistic and focused on helping parents understand their child and feel confident in responding to their needs.

At the heart of Jaliesa’s work is a belief that parents don’t need more pressure or conflicting advice — they need clear, practical information, compassionate support and the confidence to understand what is right for their individual family.
She loves working alongside families to help them feel more informed, reassured and confident as they navigate the early years.

Jaliesa is available for appointments at VMC on Wednesdays.
